Merri-bek City Council has confirmed that Dunstan Reserve North of Brunswick West in Melbourne will have up-to-date lighting for the sports field.
The lighting towers that had previously been used were found to be ageing and not up to standard when it came to lighting technology, as the light fittings wouldn’t be sustainable in the long run.
To address this, the new lighting towers will be based around adding LED infrastructure that ensures health and safety is taken care of.
The Dunstan Reserve North project involves removing the old towers and bringing in the new ones, which provides an energy efficient alternative. With four new towers measuring up at approximately 22 metres each in height, the upgraded lighting will offer illumination of 200 Lux to cover the sports field.
The project is based around complying with Australian Standards and gives the Council control over when and how they are used – for example the lights not staying on after nominated hours of operation.
Works on this project are ongoing and while there may be disruptions to those who use the reserve on a regular basis, these should only be minor in nature.
Dunstan Reserve is home to Brunswick City competing in NPL Victoria 2, who will be the beneficiary of this upgrade, particularly for training nights during the week.
