The Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries (DLGSC) in Western Australia has confirmed that applications for its Sport and Recreation Events Funding Program are now open.
The program offers valuable financial support to sport and active recreation organisations, allowing them to plan, secure, and execute a diverse range of sports and mass participation events throughout the state.
The following organisations are eligible to apply:
- National sporting organisations
- DLGSC recognised state sporting associations (SSAs)
- DLGSC recognised state active recreation organisations (SAROs)
- National sport league clubs
- Regional sporting associations
- Local governments
- Local sport and active recreation clubs and associations
- Community organisations.
The funding provided through this program aims to boost tourism from both interstate and overseas visitors, showcasing Western Australia’s qualities in arts, culture, sports, and Aboriginal attractions to a global audience.
Grant amounts of up to $50,000 are available, divided into three distinct categories to cater to various event needs:
- Event Projects: Funding support for specific sports and recreation projects.
- Event Hosting: Assistance for organisations hosting sports events.
- Country Sport Enrichment Scheme: Focusing on enhancing sports opportunities in regional areas.
Applications close at 5:00 pm (AWST) on Monday, August 25, 2024.
